US film festival to screen Iranian feature ‘Wednesday’

Iranian Film Festival in San Francisco is to screen Iran feature film ‘Wednesday’.

Iranian Film Festival (IFF) in San Francisco, US has scheduled to screen Iran feature film ‘Wednesday’.

‘Wednesday’ directed by Soroush Mohammadzadeh will be screened at the competition section of the 10th edition of the US event.

The film explores the high stakes when choosing between love, anger, and tradition. For a long time, a family has been waiting for the court verdict to be announced for the killer of their father, and now, finally, justice is due.

Only the killer is one of their in-laws, and sending him to death would mean a total break between the two families, and no future for the newlyweds and it is up to the two brothers to avenge the tragedy that has left them broken, or spare his life, forgive and mend what is left; unfortunately, both have a different idea of what right/wrong dilemma.

Shahab Hosseini, Arman Darvish, Nasim Adabi and Hasti Mahdavi are among the cast of the 87-minute movie.

‘Wednesday’ has so far been screened at a number of international film festivals in different countries, including Brazil, Turkey, the UK and the US. The film received the best director award at the Art and Experience section of the 34th Fajr Film Festival.

IFF, the first independent Iranian film festival outside of Iran, is an annual event showcasing independent feature and short films made by or about Iranians from around the world.

The event is also set to screen 40 other short and feature films from Iran, the US, France, Italy, and Canada among others.

Launched in 2008 to explore and support young Iranian filmmakers from around the world, the 10th edition of the Iranian Film Festival in San Francisco is slated for September 23-24, 2017.
